It's
your wedding and it's your cake. Here are a few things a bride should
know when the "sweet moment to choose Florida
Birthday Cakes a
cake" comes.

Research: Before you interview a cake designer, a
little homework needs
to be done. Collect pictures of cakes you like
and put them in a portfolio.
Once you collected some pictures, select
what you liked the most and
compare them. Once you've gathered enough
pictures/ideas bring them
to your cake designer.
Taste: There are many flavors to choose from. Any
flavour can work for a wedding cake. Remember, taste, texture, and
flavour go together. You can have the most elaborate design on the
planet and lousy taste.
Colour: Think about the colours you like. If you
want your cake to look
like the colour of your dress, if this dress
IS NOT WHITE, enough fabric is
to be brought to the cake desiger.
Please bear in mind that dark colours
are difficult to reproduce.
Shape: Keep in mind that the shape of your cake will
be a combination
of your style and the number of guests you will
need to feed. Today,
there are many more shapes to choose from.
Budget: Wedding cakes are priced on the number of
the servings. The
cost can be between $2 to $5 and per serving, depending
on the labor
and intricacy of the design. If your budget is tight,
you may choose to
have that fondant covered cake decorated with silf
flowers or ribbons.
These decorations are less pricy than sugar or
real flowers.
Deposits: Be prepared to leave a deposit. Some cake
designers require
between a 25% to a 50% deposit. This deposit may
or may not include equipment rental fees and safety deposit of those
items, delivery and/or
set up fees, and special and extra non-edible
ornaments such as toppers.
Final Payments: These should be made between one
(1) months to
three (3) weeks in advance.
Cancellation: Notification of cancellation of your
wedding must be done immediately. Every cake designer is different.
A portion of your deposit
may be forfeited.
Ornaments: Can be edible or non-edible. Non-edible
decorations MUST
BE removed from the cake before cutting. Your cake
designer should hand
out to you a list with the decorations that
need to removed from the cake. Gumpaste flower sprays and arrangements
can be costly due to labor intensity. Your florist might give you
a discount for those extra flowers to
go on your cake. Silk flowers
and ribbons will cost less. These decorations professionally arranged
give a distinctive touch to a wedding cake.
Cake toppers: You can put anything on the top tier
of your cake. You
may need to show your cake designer in advance
the topper of your
choosing, as special arrangements may be needed
to secure the topper
in place. Bear in mind the size and weight of
the toppers. Heavy toppers
may fall causing damage to your beautiful
cake.
Who is running the show? Your wedding day is no ordinary
day.
A lot of people are involved doing different things to make
your day special. Team work is a must. Contact information of florist,
caterer, and venue
site manager needs to be provided to your cake
designer to coordinate
delivery time and set up.
Cake Cutting Fee: Please inquire who is cutting the
cake. Sometimes
that fee is waived by your caterer. However, do not
assume anything.
Ask first, always.

Be prepared for anything! Have always a back up plan. Speak
with
your caterer, site manager, cake designer. If you decided to
have
a wedding outdoor, take into consideration the time of year.
You
never know what mother nature can do.
